While born into an agricultural family, ShyamKumar (Shyam) Kalariya has always had an interest in engineering and in how products impact end users. He pursued a degree in engineering in college at Vellore Institute of Technology. After graduation, Shyam got a job at the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, the largest bank in Australia. He started as a Data Engineer but focused primarily on the backend, with no direct connection to how the product impacted the end user. Shyam really wanted hands-on experience with the whole customer journey and to have a greater impact on everything a customer touches.

An opportunity came up to have just that impact at Zenduty. Upon joining Zenduty as a Software Engineer, Shyam's primary focus was on engineering and feature development. Over time, he gained exposure to the complete product lifecycle from development and delivery to customer onboarding and adoption, giving him a broader understanding of how products evolve from concept to real-world use. During his time at Zenduty, Shyam had a truly rewarding journey filled with learning and growth. Working with talented and supportive teammates helped him grow both as an engineer and as a person. He especially valued seeing Zenduty make a real impact by helping teams respond faster and manage incidents more effectively.

Fast forward three and a half years, and the Zenduty team has joined the Xurrent team, with Shyam now on the engineering management team. Shyam is thrilled that Zenduty and Xurrent have joined forces in IMR (Incident Management Response) and ITSM (IT Service Management) to become a complete solution. He has enjoyed working on the code and overarching solution of both products as they come together. More importantly, Shyam enjoys bringing that unified experience to his customers.

Based out of Xurrent's Bangalore office, Shyam is inspired by his team and the brilliant people he works with every day. As an office, they play badminton and cricket every week, with badminton being Shyam's favorite. In the last few years, Shyam has also started paying more attention to his physical health. He goes to the gym five days a week and has started running in 5k and 10k races. Since focusing more on his physical health over the last few years, Shyam feels both stronger and more confident at work.

Looking ahead to 2026, Shyam is excited to continue developing his interpersonal skills in his management role and to build the best end product for his growing customer base. He is also hoping to compete in his first half-marathon. He's running full speed into the new year at Xurrent.
