Product Category Fields

Product category fields define properties and attributes for organizing products within categories.

The table below lists the fields of the Product Category form and provides utilization guidelines for each field.

Field Label	Utilization Guideline
Picture	The `Picture` field is used to add a picture or logo of the product category. Click on the picture to enlarge it or to change it.
Name	The `Name` field is used to enter the name of the product category.
Disabled	The `Disabled` box is checked when the product category may not be related to any more products.
Group	The `Group` field is used to include the product category in a group.
Rule set	The `Rule set` field is used to select a set of rules that are to be applied to the products to which the product category is related, as well as the configuration items that are related to those products. The selected rule set dictates which fields are available for these products and configuration items. As soon as the product category is linked to one or more products, the `Rule set` field can no longer be updated. The overview provided below indicates which fields are affected by each rule set.
Reference	The `Reference` field is automatically set to the concatenation of the Group field value and the Name field value, separated by a forward slash, written in lowercase characters and with all spaces replaced by the underscore character. The reference no longer gets updated if the product category is linked to one or more products.
UI extension	The `UI extension` field is used to select the UI extension that is to be added to a product when it is related to the product category.
Products
Products	The `Products` table field lists all the products that are linked to the product category.
