Datadog CMDB – Xurrent App Installation & Configuration Guide

This guide explains how to install and configure the Datadog app in Xurrent to securely synchronize host data into the Xurrent CMDB with automated updates.

Overview

The Datadog integration enables seamless synchronization of host data from Datadog into Xurrent. Once configured, the app automatically fetches and updates device information, ensuring the CMDB remains accurate and up to date.

This integration uses the Datadog API endpoint:

• /api/v1/hosts

Prerequisites

Before starting the installation, ensure that:

• You have access to install apps in Xurrent
• You have access to a valid Datadog account
• You have the required Application Key and API Key
• The Datadog app is available in the Xurrent App Store
• The Application Key has the required permission:
  
  • ✅ hosts_read (required to access /api/v1/hosts)

Step 1: Install the Datadog App in Xurrent

1. Log in to your Xurrent account
2. Navigate to the Xurrent App Store
3. Search for Datadog
4. Locate the app with Provider: Xurrent
5. Click Add
6. Click Install App to begin the installation

Step 2: Configure the Datadog App

After installation:

1. Open the Datadog app
2. Navigate to the Configuration tab
3. Ensure the app status is set to Enabled
4. Select the appropriate Customer Representative
5. Under the Config section, provide the following details:

• Application Key
• API Key
• Region

🔑 How to Generate API Key & Application Key in Datadog

1️⃣ Generate API Key

1. Log in to your Datadog account
2. Navigate to:
   Organization Settings → API Keys
3. Click “New Key”
4. Enter a meaningful name (e.g., Integration-API-Key)
5. Click Create

2️⃣ Generate Application Key (with required permission)

1. Go to:
   Organization Settings → Application Keys
2. Click “New Key”
3. Provide:
   
   • Key name
4. Assign required permission/scope:
   
   • ✅ hosts_read
5. Click Create

Step 3: Data Synchronization

Once the configuration is saved, the app initiates the synchronization process.

• Host data from Datadog is synchronized into the Xurrent CMDB
• The sync runs automatically based on the integration logic

Sync Execution Status

After the synchronization is completed:

• The Execution Status will be displayed as Completed or Running
• The Execution Output section will show:
  
  • Total Devices Found
  • Total Configuration Items (Updated/Created)
  • Total Errors

These details help verify the success of the synchronization and identify any issues.

• In case of Incorrect credentials provided the app will be suspended & Error details will be shown as below in Execution status.

Result

After successful synchronization:

• Datadog Host data is securely available in Xurrent.
• Configuration items are created or updated automatically.
• The CMDB stays accurate and up to date.
• Errors (if any) are clearly reported for troubleshooting.

Notes & Best Practices

• Ensure the Application Key and API Key are valid and active.
• If the sync reports errors, review the execution output for details & create a support request in xurrent.
