Specialist Interface Responsiveness: Hiding Views
One of the challenges of user interface (UI) design is the balancing act between content and white space: how to show as much information as possible without compromising usability. Different screen sizes must be taken into account to give every user a good experience, by means of a responsive design. Recently, users with larger screens can now see the ‘Notes’ section of many record types separated from the other sections and basic information of those records in 4me’s Specialist Interface.
The latest UI adjustment hides the view when a user with a medium sized screen opens a record in Edit mode, allowing more space for the ‘Notes’ section to appear on the right side of the screen. By selecting Edit mode, the user has decided on which record they want to work, making the other records of the view no longer relevant at that moment. After the record is saved, or when editing is canceled, the view reappears on the left, with the same record still selected.
On large screens, both the view and the record in Edit mode with the ‘Notes’ section split are visible, as seen in the screenshot below.
On medium sized screens, the view is hidden when the record is in Edit mode, so the ‘Notes’ section can still be separated from the other sections. The screenshot below shows what happens when the same record is edited on a smaller screen.
